A downloadable game for Windows

A group of friends are stuck in an old house during a thunderstorm. They find a strange fertility themed board game and decide to humor it. As the game goes on, they start experiencing nausea, fatigue, a sense of fullness and other unusual symptoms. They laugh it off, until eventually one girl's stomach visibly swells.
Separated from the rest of the world, their only option is to continue playing and hope things go back to normal when someone wins.

To summarize, Jumanji, but pregnancy. Ukuzala means birth in Zulu.

This is a smaller side project, focused on telling a story rather than complicated mechanics or visuals. Thematically, it's entirely about pregnancy and, arguably, body horror.
There is no intercourse in this game, but there's nudity, xray views and depiction of childbirth. The game has been created within the framework of my main project - Coffee Story, as such, it utilizes the same scripts and assets.

The current version of Ukuzala is ~2/3 complete and free. It takes 1 - 2 hours to playthrough both routes. The full release will have a price-tag.

Meanwhile, you can support my effort and check out Coffee Story on Patreon or Subscribestar.

Visuals:

  • Scenes and characters are depicted through animated pixelart at world scale, in real time. There are no CG images.
  • Environments are a mix of my own sprite-work and various asset packs rescaled, edited or redrawn to better fit character proportions.
  • The target resolution is 1280x720. This can be rescaled, but the area view won't increase.
  • The target framerate is 60fps. Increasing the framerate increases the speed of the animations by design.

Audio:

  • Ambiance, music and sound effects.

Gameplay:

  • Gameplay consists of navigating through the house, interacting with the other characters and occasionally solving a puzzle to progress the story.

Controls:

  • The default scheme aims to simulate typical RPG maker controls as well as WASD standards. Otherwise, controls can be remapped if needed.
  •  Limited mouse support: Movement, some in game menu navigation.

when I put "new game" it freezes and then I put "win 32 function failed" Device lost - reason:9x887a0020

I cant play, when I put "newvo game" it freezes and then I put "win 32 function failed" Device lost - reason:9x887a0020

I really love this game and its themes, especially a focus on supernatural rapid pregnancy. It's so seldom to a see a game that focuses on pregnancy and its effects on the characters.

What do I have to do in chapter "horsing around 5

what thing is green

will there be a path focused around the player character

I don't think any of the routes focus on one character more than the others.

But no, I don't think there's room for a route that focuses solely on the PC.
She is a conduit for the player to observe the story, as such she lacks any meaningful personality to play off of

OK, I was just hoping there would be a way to be the one to win the board game.

I guess freeplay mode will be that, since it won't have a plot.

But the game isn't supposed to end until all players "win". Shouldn't there be a path were the PC gives birth?

Is there a way to avoid birth content? or does it at least warn you?

I guess the full release will have a visually neutered version, since I'm aiming for a Steam presence.

Though, I would advise against playing this if you're squeamish with that kind of stuff.

Can someone just tell me the answer for the "Equation" Chapter i tried it and i can't figure it out i just want an answer no hints please

look down two comments

Looks good

Is this game playable on JoiPlay?

Great game and I really love the vibe you established, especially the body horror stuff (so disturbing but also fascinating)

Two points of criticism tho:

1. maybe give a quick tip on poses letting you look under tables (cool mechanic, just not communicated enough)

2. please make the "equation" puzzle more accesible. I still have no Idea what the equation even is (I think it's "6 four times in a row" but that is also just Nami complaining about her luck). Maybe have the card with the equation readable on the table? I might have skimmed over some dialogue but the question should still be repeatable imo.

I do appreciate what you've made and I loved the "green thing", "magic circle" and "letters" puzzles especially and I didn't mind taking some time on those but "solve the equation" feels way too confusing in comparison to the others.

If that's just me then please share the thought process behind solving this.

I thought it had something to do with Nami being lucky so I tiped in "Nami" (or "nami" don't remember) but now I feel very much stumped :(

There are multiple words that work. I didn't consider people would shorten her name though.

Как пройти пазл "зелёная штука"? Я не понимаю что надо написать Каре

what is the answer to the equation quest?

Nanami

god i hate these languages barrier now im stuck at pop a ballon part can anyone help

bubblegum

i just know it yesterday but thanks for hel

I love this game so far. I've been threw both Nanami's path and Yuri's path. are there only two endings in this version of the came?

where is all the doll parts im lost

Absolutely loved the game; and quite eager to find out about the upcoming route(s)! Further belly growth would be great 😁

Look at the letters you have and think about the theme of the game, should become obvious if you shuffle them around a little

(there are 5 letters in total)

I really need some guidance. I can't find anything green. So that I can't experience the following story.

it a panty

Thank you

They're her panties, lol

do you know how to get the blacklight needed to see the magic circles

UV from Yuri

So how do I put the batteries IN the uv light

А как их забрать у неё?

Sodapop.kevin there is a specil kind of light

If you mean the circle of light in the top part of the basement I seen it but have no idea what to do with it.

a special kind of flashlight one of them mentioned it before because of gross things you can only see with that light

Ah thanks, I tried "blacklight" and it didn't work so had to replay the start to get the right answer.

can someone please tell me how i can unlock the second route or at least give me a hint? i tried everything but nothing changes

Hm I can't seem to find the magic circle.

Hello, just played the game everything looks and works amazing so far but im curious if kary will get any bigger like alot bigger. im a big enjoyer of the ridiculous belly routes just because its a fun way to make the game have a little bit of light hearted elements to it. But lmk 🫂

Game is very good so far, however, I cannot pass the "Burn the green thing" segment on Yuri's route due to being colorblind. I've checked all over the house, but can't find anything that sticks out as green to me. Any clues would be welcome!

some help with the colored letters puzzel please.

One of the letters is behind a door, and one of them is under a table which you can see by cycling your pose pressing 'R' or 'P' by default.

thank

Only did the Nami route so far, but it was really, really good! Loved the progression, loved the magnitude, I hope the other route is similarly effective!

My main complaint would be the puzzles being a bit finnicky and unintuitive. The doll parts can be pretty nondescript, the letter hiding behind the door was almost too dark to notice, and I had to cheat for the "equation" one, though I think I know what the intention was in hindsight. If you wanted that one to be more intuitive, the hint definitely should have been more specific than "has anything notable happened" lmao. Maybe allow the player to see the cards that had been applied to the players so they would be reminded Nami had the "luck" card. The fact she had rolled 4 sixes in a row was definitely improbable, but, well, it's not like anything going on was very probable, was it? It's the sort of puzzle that seems obvious if you're the one who made it, but with how it was presented it is nigh-impenetrable to an outsider.

Gonna need some time to recover for the other route, haha

even with the help still very lost

(1 edit)

Assuming that you need help with the 'equation' puzzle, the closest I can come without explicitly saying the answer would be something like: Nami got the "luck up" card, and then proceeded to perform very "well" when it comes to random numbers. When operating under logical uncertainty, a math problem can appear to have any number of possible solutions, so Nami should be able to help.

If this is still not sufficient, no big deal. What little desire I had to keep that route's ending trapped behind this puzzle for these players is rapidly diminishing, so let me know if you need further help.

Hello for my part even with the indices I am lost in calculation

I know I don't hold the player's hand, but the puzzles are very penetrable. Much more so than what I'm known for.
I understand the demographic here is more casual, but enough people have managed to finish both routes without issue, that I will likely make the puzzles more difficult on the next release.

In my opinion, the line "has anything notable happened" should be removed altogether, not be more specific.

I would like to point out that every single comment so far has been from someone who needs help with the puzzles or from myself.

If that line has any grounds for removal, it is because it carries essentially no value whatsoever in terms of narrowing down the configuration space of the free-form answer.

I can't profess to know exactly what your goals are, but even apart from making the game accessible to the people who are playing it, I think the puzzles in their current state significantly detract from the experience by killing the pacing.

I'm rather surprised to hear this comment from you, given that the game is not exactly the next Baba is You, but rather a game about watching girls get incredibly pregnant and then give birth. Who is your target audience?

I'm saying multiple people have figured out the answers without cheating, as such the puzzles are solvable.

As I have not seen puzzle difficulty criticism prior to this for this game, to simplify them would be disrespectful to my audience that have supported me and scrutinized my work to hell and back way before I decided to upload anything here.

I think you have a very reductionist approach. Not every game has to either be a hardcore puzzle or a cutscene gallery.

You seem to have an interest in this project beyond the regular passerby. What do you suggest my audience should be based on what you've seen?

I think the puzzles are mostly fine, with a couple exceptions.
1. You should add some form of tutorial about the changing poses. (I solved both paths without knowing that could be done, so I thought the doll head was INCREDIBLY unfair, and I guessed the word with only 3 letters)
2. For the "Solve the equation" card it should be more clear that Kari is not expecting you to enter a number. It would have been in my first 10 guesses, if I didn't spend roughly 40 guesses entering various numbers.

Ironically, one of the acceptable words is 'guess'.

What answer to equation? i have zero idea and a quiet language barrier

It has to do with Nami getting the "luck up" card earlier. Let me know if you still need to be given the answer after that!

damn, still had about to half hour to quess xd tnx man

i really like the game so far but the sad thing is i couldnt fully complete it i have to look for the doll parts but sadly i cant find all of them

I'll try to help: they can be under furniture which you will need to check using the "cycle pose" key, bound to 'R' or 'P' by default. They can also be inside things which you will need to search, and it's not always the most intuitive what can be searched or not. One of them is also lying on some stuff downstairs and can be hard to miss.

thank you! i found all the doll parts, but now im stuck at getting the letter or something, like i see the letters on the wall and stuff, i found 4 already but i dont know what to do with them

is it irth?

yea put B in front you got the word
